About the role: Data Product Owner (Customer Analytics) – 12 month contract

Reporting to the Customer Analytics & Insights Leader, the Data Product Owner will act as the primary point of accountability for all data requests originating from regulatory, legal, and government sources. They will own the end-to-end process, from intake and scoping through to delivery and audit, and ensuring data validation. Responsibilities include:

  • Own the intake, triage, scoping, and delivery of all regulatory and legal data requests
  • Build frameworks that standardize how regulatory data requests are handled
  • Design and maintain a robust audit trail for all data provided in response to regulatory or legal requests, including data lineage and version control
  • Uplift team capability in understanding regulatory context, and contribute to the broader CIA team's data governance maturity
  • Work with Legal and Regulatory specialists to interpret policy and legislative language and convert it into clear data specifications

This role sits at the intersection of data, policy, and legal, a space where technical rigour meets real-world consequence – Ideally you will have experience in those domains and additionally, most of the following:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant discipline (data, information systems, law, public policy, or related field)

  • Minimum 7 years experience of data ownership/stewardship within similar corporate environments

  • Strong data fluency, including proficiency in SQL and ability to interrogate relational databases and cloud data platforms

  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex legal, policy, or regulatory language into clear and executable data requirements

    • data governance, audit processes, or compliance-adjacent data work experience viewed favourably
  • Familiarity with platforms such as AWS/Azure, Databricks, or Snowflake

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written with the ability to worth with both business & technical stakeholders

  • Experience working in local regulated industry and exposure to Victorian or Australian energy regulatory frameworks ad data privacy obligations will be viewed favourably.
