Position Description

Classification: Academic Level A
Salary package: $89,313 - $112,103 per annum plus 17% superannuation
Terms: Full-time, Fixed term up to 24 months from appointment

The Position

The position is in support of establishing a protein structure determination and engineering pipeline in the Zhang lab. The position will contribute to developing novel strategies to control devastating diseases in agriculture and Australian native plants. The position will Involve protein characterisation and structure determination using computational modelling and wet-lab techniques including X-ray crystallography.

The Person

The successful applicant will undertake independent research in the area of protein chemistry and structural biology with a view to publishing original and innovative results in refereed journals, present research at seminars and conferences, and collaborate with other researchers. The successful applicant will hold a relevant PhD, with experience in recombinant protein production, X-ray crystallography and protein structure modelling and analysis. Experience in protein evolution and high throughput library screening to detect protein-protein interaction In different cell systems will be regarded positively.
