About The Role

The Learning & Capability Manager is responsible for developing employees to ensure they can work safely, align with V/Line’s values, and deliver on strategic priorities.

Leading a small team, you will partner with stakeholders across the business to ensure learning and development needs are met and aligned with the broader learning strategy, career development and operational requirements. A key focus will be the design, delivery and continuous improvement of flagship learning programs, along with the development and change management of new and innovative initiatives.

You will be joining a high performing team that have won numerous industry awards including the Victorian Training Awards - Large Employer of the year 2025 and Platinum LearnX award for best onboarding program.

This is a 12-month parental leave contract.

Location & Travel Considerations

This role is based out of our Melbourne CBD office with some requirement for occasional travel to our regional depots.

About You

You are a pragmatic, adaptable leader who supports their team, fosters collaboration, leverages learning technologies, and drives continuous improvement in complex environments.

Key accountabilities include :

Our ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Demonstrated people management experience, with a supportive approach to ensure all team members are set up for success and meet agreed timelines for delivery of work.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading the development, implementation, and evaluation of learning programs.
  • Demonstrated internal consulting and stakeholder management skills with proven business acumen.
  • Experience overseeing learning management systems and digital learning tools, with the ability to govern platforms and partner with specialists to drive continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated facilitation skills across a variety of mediums.
