Step into a leadership role where you’ll help RACQ Insurance show up for customers and communities when it matters most. This role plays a critical part in shaping how we prepare for, respond to and recover from natural disasters, while keeping our claims operations running smoothly every day. You’ll lead a small, capable team, work closely with senior leaders, and bring clarity and coordination across complex priorities. If you’re experienced in property claims, calm under pressure, and motivated by making a genuine impact, this is a chance to lead meaningful work with purpose.
This is a permanent full-time role based in Meanjin (Brisbane).
What You'll Do
- Lead the planning, coordination and delivery of disaster and catastrophe event responses across property and niche claims.
- Oversee operational support activities including budgeting, reinsurance reporting, resource cost allocation and department operations.
- Provide strong, visible leadership to a specialist team, developing capability and supporting leaders to perform at their best.
- Partner closely with claims, finance, risk, audit and shared services teams to deliver aligned, compliant outcomes.
- Drive clear, confident stakeholder communication before, during and after major events.
- Identify improvement opportunities to strengthen disaster readiness, response capability and customer outcomes.
- Assess external market influences, climate factors and innovation to ensure RACQI remains competitive and responsive to weather events.
What You'll Bring
- Experience leading property or home claims teams, including exposure to natural disasters respond or large‑scale claim events.
- Experience in disaster management planning and execution.
- Strong operational leadership skills, with confidence managing budgets, forecasting and financial reporting.
- Ability to lead the leaders, coordinate across teams, and influence senior stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills, especially in high‑pressure or fast‑moving environments.
- Working knowledge of insurance compliance, risk management and governance obligations.
- A collaborative mindset and the resilience to stay focused when priorities shift.
