About This Opportunity
We’re looking for a dynamic leader to take charge of EECS' Academic and Student Administration team. In this pivotal role, you’ll guide a dedicated team of six full-time professionals and play a key part in supporting our undergraduate and postgraduate coursework programs.
You’ll also work closely with the Teaching & Learning Committee and its various subcommittees—helping drive innovation, streamline processes, and enhance the academic journey for students and staff alike.
Key responsibilities will include:
Student & Academic Administration
Lead the School’s professional staff team, ensuring high performance through supervision, workload management, performance reviews, and professional development. Oversee governance processes, committee documentation, and collaborate with Faculty and Central Administration on academic and student administration matters.
Operational Planning & Strategic Management
Plan and manage delivery of teaching and assessment support, maintain accurate student and program data, and ensure efficient business processes and standard operating procedures. Support curriculum planning, oversee casual academic staff administration, support accreditation activities, and manage teaching allocations in consultation with key stakeholders.
Policy, Liaison & Advisory
Provide expert advice on University policies and procedures, Provide strategic and administrative support to the Director of Teaching and Learning, and represent the School on committees and working groups. Advise senior executives on complex student matters, including grievances and misconduct.
Student Recruitment & Data Analysis
Contribute to marketing and recruitment activities by analysing student trends, developing content across marketing channels, and coordinating School participation in recruitment events such as Open Day, TSXPO, and international agent engagements.
This is a full-time, fixed-term position commencing on 18 May 2026, through to 31 July 2026 at HEW Level 8.
About You
- Completion of a postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications with at least five years subsequent relevant experience; or extensive experience and management expertise in an administrative field or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
- Extensive experience (minimum five years) in academic and/or student administration within a university or tertiary education setting, combined with a thorough understanding of institutional structures, policies, and procedures—particularly those related to student academic progression—or a demonstrated capacity to quickly acquire such knowledge.
- Demonstrated expertise in the management of people and material resources, and
the ability to coordinate functions and activities to achieve objectives in a changing
and constrained organisational environment. - Excellent interpersonal skills including a demonstrated history of building and maintaining productive working relationships with other organisational units.
- Strong problem-solving skills and analytical ability, including a demonstrated ability to resolve issues through negotiation.
- High level managerial, interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to provide advice, negotiate and liaise to achieve desired outcomes.
- Experience in the preparation of reports, submissions, policy documents and other written works with evidence of excellent written skills.
- A track record of commitment to a culture of continuous improvement and working autonomously, including the ability to identify areas for improvement, lead reviews and successfully implement new business processes.
