V/Line’s purpose is to connect Victorians through safe, reliable, and accessible transport. We believe in giving all Victorians opportunities through travel and transport – connecting them to jobs, education, family and friends, services, tourism and trade.

With more than 3700 weekly train and coach services, an expansive freight network and unprecedented rail investment, millions of Victorians depend on us to deliver. You could be one of our 3100 committed team members who are up to the challenge.

About the role

As our new HCM Payroll Implementation Specialist, you’ll play a pivotal role in providing specialist payroll expertise to support the successful rollout of a new Human Capital Management (HCM) system, including integrated Time & Attendance. This role is central to guiding V/Line through its transition from manual, paper‐based payroll processes to a modern, streamlined digital platform.

As the payroll representative within the project, you’ll ensure that payroll processes, awards/EBAs, compliance obligations, system integrations, and data structures are accurately designed, configured, tested, and embedded into business‐as‐usual operations. Acting as the key link between Payroll, HR, Finance, and the implementation team, the successful candidate will safeguard pay accuracy, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency throughout the transformation.

About you

To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following key selection criteria within their application, as this forms part of our merit-based recruitment process:

  • Must have 5+ years’ experience as a Payroll Specialist on HCM and Workforce Management implementations in complex project environments
  • Proven understanding of Australian payroll legislation and Enterprise Agreements
  • Demonstrated experience transforming manual payroll processes into system-enabled solutions
  • Established internal/external stakeholder engagement skills with a track record of successfully managing vendors and ensuring delivery to contractual commitments
  • Proven experience with ADP Payforce (highly desirable)
  • Demonstrated hands-on Payroll experience (highly desirable)

Salary for this position is commensurate to the successful candidate’s aligned skills and experience to the position.
