About the Role

An exciting opportunity has opened for a Leading Hand Maintenance Fitter to join our high-performing Maintenance Field team at Maules Creek. This is a rotating day/night shift work pattern, offering a great work-life balance. We have an ultra-class fleet of mining equipment including CAT and Hitachi machinery.

In this hands-on leadership position, you’ll play a key role in guiding and mentoring a team of fitters, driving safety, quality, and efficiency across the field operations. It’s the perfect opportunity for someone looking to step into a leadership role or further develop their frontline leadership capability

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and support a team of fitters, providing guidance and fostering a proactive “can do” culture.
  • Perform planned, breakdown and corrective maintenance activities in line with Whitehaven Coal’s safety standards and procedures.
  • Promote a safe work environment by ensuring incidents, hazards and risks are reported, investigated and managed appropriately.
  • Conduct equipment inspections and raise work orders for defective or worn components identified during maintenance activities.
  • Provide supervisory support during planned shutdowns to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.

What You’ll Bring

  • Relevant Trade Qualification (Certificate III in Mechanical, Auto Electrical, Electrical or Heavy Fabrication)
  • Current, unrestricted NSW “C” Class Driver’s Licence
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to lead a team
  • Solid time management skills and the ability to prioritise tasks
  • Extensive experience working with heavy equipment
