At IAG, we’re ready for you. We're the largest general insurance group in Australia and New Zealand. Our family of brands turns the IAG purpose of making your world a safer place into action by helping everyday Aussies and New Zealanders, supporting their ambitions and making insurance accessible.

At IAG, our purpose is to make your world a safer place. We are customer-led and data-driven, committed to helping communities feel safer, stronger and more confident.

As part of our AI and Engineering unit, you’ll work at the forefront of generative AI and agentic systems, delivering ethical, scalable solutions across the business.

As an Agent Ops Engineer, you’ll take agentic systems from design into production, ensuring they are secure, reliable and perform at scale. Working in cross-functional squads, you’ll focus on cloud infrastructure, observability, resilience and runtime operations, treating agents as distributed systems rather than traditional applications. This is a hands-on role deploying and operating solutions on GCP using tools like Vertex AI, Agent Engine and Cloud Run.

You’ll bring strong cloud and systems expertise, along with a passion for building production-grade AI. In return, you’ll join a flexible, collaborative environment where your work has real impact.

At IAG, we live the IAG Way, prioritise safety and wellbeing, and celebrate diversity in all its forms.

What You’ll Do

  • Own deployment, runtime operations and reliability of agentic systems in production

  • Design and manage cloud infrastructure for agentic workloads across compute, networking and data

  • Build and operate CI/CD pipelines for safe, repeatable releases

  • Deploy and run agentic systems on GCP using Vertex AI, Agent Engine and Cloud Run

  • Establish observability including logging, metrics, tracing, alerting and cost tracking

  • Monitor and optimise runtime performance, latency, scaling and failure handling

  • Implement resilience patterns such as retries, fallbacks and graceful degradation

  • Collaborate with engineers to translate agent designs into production-ready systems

  • Lead incident response, root cause analysis and continuous improvement

  • Embed security, privacy, ethical AI controls and automation-first operational practices

There are two permanent role and offers a flexible hybrid work model based in Naarm (Melbourne) or Gadigal Country (Sydney).

What You’ll Bring

  • Strong experience operating production systems at scale in cloud, platform or SRE roles

  • Deep hands-on expertise with GCP, including compute, IAM, networking and observability

  • Proven experience deploying and running container-based workloads (e.g. Cloud Run)

  • Solid understanding of infrastructure as code and automated environment provisioning

  • Experience operating ML, GenAI or agentic systems in production environments

  • Familiarity with platforms such as Vertex AI and understanding of agent runtime behaviour

  • Strong CI/CD, observability and incident management skills with a focus on diagnosing complex issues

  • Ability to balance reliability, cost and delivery speed through pragmatic, automation-first engineering decisions

What We Offer

• Boosted superannuation with 13% as standard.
• 20 days annual leave + 5 days MyLeave (extra leave for what’s important to you).
• Work from home and many more flexibility options with myFlex.
• Up to 50% off personal insurance, including home and motor insurance.
• Partner discounts on private health insurance, tech & appliances, and many more.
• Industry-leading 20 weeks paid parental leave.
• Access to LinkedIn Learning, the award-winning IAG Academy, study assistance and secondment opportunities.
