Motor Mechanic (General) – Cooling Systems Specialist

Due to continued growth, we are seeking a qualified Motor Mechanic (General) to join our workshop team. This is a unique opportunity to apply your mechanical trade skills in a specialised environment working on heavy-duty cooling system components rather than routine vehicle servicing.
About the Role
As a Motor Mechanic – Cooling Systems Specialist, you will inspect, diagnose, service, repair, test and refurbish cooling system components used across a wide range of equipment including:
Heavy vehicles
Mobile plant
Caterpillar equipment
Generators
Marine engines and vessels
Industrial equipment
You will work on components including:
Radiators
Engine oil coolers
Hydraulic oil coolers
Transmission and gearbox coolers
Charge air coolers
Aftercoolers
Heat exchangers
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
Diagnosing faults in heavy-duty cooling system components
Assessing failures including overheating, oil and coolant contamination, pressure loss, leaks, blocked cores, corrosion and mechanical damage
Inspecting components removed from engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems and marine equipment
Dismantling, cleaning and preparing components for repair or refurbishment
Performing pressure testing and leak testing
Replacing seals, gaskets, fittings and associated components
Recording inspection findings, test results and repair recommendations
Following workshop procedures, quality standards and safety requirements
Working collaboratively with our Service and Caterpillar departments to deliver high-quality repairs on time
Maintaining workshop equipment and a clean, safe work environment
About You
To be successful you will have:
Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent trade qualification)
Current Australian Driver's Licence
Strong mechanical diagnostic and fault-finding skills
Experience working as a qualified motor mechanic
The ability to read technical instructions and complete workshop documentation
A strong commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Highly regarded:
Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis
Experience with Caterpillar equipment, heavy vehicles, mobile plant or marine engines
Forklift Licence (or willingness to obtain)
