Due to continued growth, we are seeking a qualified Motor Mechanic (General) to join our workshop team. This is a unique opportunity to apply your mechanical trade skills in a specialised environment working on heavy-duty cooling system components rather than routine vehicle servicing.

About the Role

As a Motor Mechanic – Cooling Systems Specialist, you will inspect, diagnose, service, repair, test and refurbish cooling system components used across a wide range of equipment including:

• Heavy vehicles

• Mobile plant

• Caterpillar equipment

• Generators

• Marine engines and vessels

• Industrial equipment

You will work on components including:

• Radiators

• Engine oil coolers

• Hydraulic oil coolers

• Transmission and gearbox coolers

• Charge air coolers

• Aftercoolers

• Heat exchangers

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

• Diagnosing faults in heavy-duty cooling system components

• Assessing failures including overheating, oil and coolant contamination, pressure loss, leaks, blocked cores, corrosion and mechanical damage

• Inspecting components removed from engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems and marine equipment

• Dismantling, cleaning and preparing components for repair or refurbishment

• Performing pressure testing and leak testing

• Replacing seals, gaskets, fittings and associated components

• Recording inspection findings, test results and repair recommendations

• Following workshop procedures, quality standards and safety requirements

• Working collaboratively with our Service and Caterpillar departments to deliver high-quality repairs on time

• Maintaining workshop equipment and a clean, safe work environment

About You

To be successful you will have:

• Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent trade qualification)

• Current Australian Driver's Licence

• Strong mechanical diagnostic and fault-finding skills

• Experience working as a qualified motor mechanic

• The ability to read technical instructions and complete workshop documentation

• A strong commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Highly regarded:

• Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis

• Experience with Caterpillar equipment, heavy vehicles, mobile plant or marine engines

• Forklift Licence (or willingness to obtain)
