We are a growing construction company delivering high-quality projects. We are seeking a skilled Accountant with industry experience to manage our project finances and compliance.
The Role
You will oversee the financial health of our projects, ensuring accurate tracking from groundbreaking to completion. This role requires sharp attention to detail and strong knowledge of Australian construction accounting practices.
Key Responsibilities
Job Costing: Break down labour, materials, and indirect costs per project to monitor profitability.
Subcontractor Management: Process weekly payroll, verify invoices, and manage superannuation and tax obligations.
Compliance & Tax: Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS), GST, and payroll tax in line with ATO regulations.
Asset Management: Manage equipment depreciation schedules for heavy machinery and vehicles.
Cash Flow Management: Monitor and forecast cash flow to ensure stability between project milestones.
Talent Acquisition & Selection: Facilitate comprehensive interview processes to identify and select top-tier candidates aligned with organizational goals.
Employment Compliance: Draft legally compliant employment contracts and oversee structured onboarding programs to ensure seamless transition and integration.
Workplace Health & Safety (WHS): Develop and execute mandatory safety inductions while actively monitoring continuous compliance and hazard risk mitigation.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance and / or Business.
Minimum 2–3 years of experience in construction or project accounting.
Strong understanding of ATO regulations, WorkCover compliance, and payroll tax.
Proficiency in accounting software (MYOB) and construction management tools.
Excellent communication skills to collaborate with project managers and site supervisors.
