Job Description
Create your best future and join Westpac as a Technical Business Analyst (Data and Integration)
What’s the role?
In this Technical Business Analyst role, you will support complex data migration and transformation initiatives across the bank. Your focus will be to understand how data really behaves across systems and help teams make confident, evidence-based decisions as platforms change.
This is a full-time permanent hybrid role based in Sydney Warrane, Gadigal Country.
You’ll work across multiple source systems and modern data platforms, using SQL to profile data, explore quality issues, and uncover patterns that are not visible in documentation alone. You’ll help assess how data changes flow through warehouses, reporting layers, and downstream applications, then translate those impacts into clear, actionable insights. You’ll be deeply embedded in the technical detail, requiring you to dig through code, understand data meaning, logic, and impact as well as support solution design. You’ll collaborate closely with project managers, solution designers, engineers, and business stakeholders, breaking complex work into user stories and sprint level tasks that teams can deliver against.
What do I need?
- Strong SQL capability for data profiling, validation, and reconciliation
- Experience undertaking end to end data discovery and data impact assessment
- Experience working on data migration or large-scale transformation programs
- Understanding of data relationships, transformations and system to system movement
- Confidence translating complex data findings into clear documentation and insights
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work across multiple stakeholder groups
Highly desirable
- Banking domain knowledge, particularly in mortgages, lending or collateral
- Exposure to AI and prompt-based tools and how they can support analysis
- Ability to contribute to solution design thinking alongside engineers and architects
- Experience or familiarity with tools and platforms such as Informatica, Teradata or big data environments including Hadoop.
