About the role
This role plays a key part in advancing The Benevolent Society’s mission through policy, research, and advocacy. You’ll contribute to a range of policy and advocacy initiatives, helping to use the insights and experiences of our staff and clients to influence public policy and improve outcomes for people. You will working closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure this work is high quality and influential.
Duties
- Research and analyse issues impacting the not-for-profit sector, and our clients and staff
- Manage projects related to policy development, stakeholder engagement and events
- Compile organisational input and draft submissions to government and relevant inquiries
- Maintain current knowledge of key policy issues and share updates across the organisation
- Analyse research and policy advice to support advocacy strategies and campaigns
- Build and manage partnerships and external relationships to progress joint advocacy and government engagement

Skills and Experience
We want you to be successful in your new role! This means you’ll have:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in a related discipline
- Strong written communication skills, with experience in social policy development
- Sound understanding of effective influencing strategies within the Australian political environment
- Proven project management capability
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Ability to build rapport and work effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders
