At ahm, we think work should work with you.

Because let’s face it, life’s too short for a job you dread. Work means different things to different people.

Join the ahm Crew as a Customer First Teammate!

  • Location: East Coast Australia
  • Job Type: Hybrid role working Monday – Friday
  • Hours: Part-time (10am-2pm, 20 hours per week) and Full-time (10am-6pm, 37.5 hours per week) available

Our Customer Consultant role, internally referred to as a Customer First Teammate, is at the heart of our ahm customer experience.

As a Teammate, you’ll be the friendly voice (or message) on the other end of the line, guiding our customers through everything including joining ahm, navigating hospital admissions, helping with policy updates, answering claim inquiries, and providing support to those considering leaving.

In this role you’ll own the whole customer journey – start to finish – and make sure every interaction feels personal, positive, and genuinely helpful.

At times, this also means having tougher conversations, including supporting customers with more complex or sensitive health situations. To help you in these moments, you’ll be supported by comprehensive training, clear processes, and ongoing coaching to build your confidence over time.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Helping customers choose the right cover by confidently guiding them through ahm products and matching solutions to their needs.
  • Taking proactive steps to retain customers — understanding their concerns, offering alternatives, and finding outcomes that keep them with us.
  • Owning complex customer interactions, including emotionally challenging conversations around health or personal circumstances.
  • Listening like a pro and solving problems with heart.
  • Communicating clearly, kindly, and confidently.
  • Thinking on your feet and making smart, customer-first decisions.
  • Teaming up with awesome colleagues to share ideas and support each other.
  • Spotting ways we can do things better – and helping make it happen.

What we’re looking for:

  • A people-person with a passion for helping others.

  • Someone who’s curious, adaptable, and always up for a challenge.

  • A team player who’s not afraid to take the lead when needed.

  • Great communication skills (bonus points if you’ve helped people before – in any setting).

  • Someone who is emotionally resilient and enjoys helping people feel comfortable during more sensitive conversations.

  • Someone who enjoys managing their own work independently and making customer-first decisions, with the confidence to ask questions and seek guidance when needed.

  • A positive attitude and a willingness to learn – we’ll teach you the rest!

  • Work from home or the office – we’re all about flexibility.

  • Extensive training provided including online, facilitator led, and on the job.

  • Learning & development programs to help you grow your career.

  • Fun team culture – think virtual hangouts, shout-outs, and a whole lot of team spirit.

  • Generous leave options so you can recharge when you need to.

  • Be heard! Your ideas and feedback help shape how we work and improve.

We’re on a mission to become Australia’s Healthiest Workplace, supporting you to feel healthier and happier at work and beyond. Enjoy:

  • Free WorkBetter app — access virtual GP, psychology support, health coaching & more.
  • Subsidised health cover + fully covered Healthy Living Extras for proactive wellbeing.
  • Good Health Day — an extra day off each year to recharge your way.
  • Holistic wellbeing support — health checks, pregnancy & parenting support, plus 24/7 access to our Employee Health Support Line.

Please note the below key requirements:

  • Start date for this role
    • Part-time intake – Tuesday 9/06/2026
    • Full-time intake – Monday 22/06/2026
  • The training period is mandatory, and full virtual attendance is required.
