Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Residential Care Officer to coordinate clinical care, lead infection prevention and control, manage wound care, and provide staff training and leadership. This role is essential in ensuring high-quality care delivery, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care Coordination
Oversee the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care to residents
Develop, implement, and evaluate individualised care plans in collaboration with residents, families, and multidisciplinary teams
Provide clinical guidance and support to care staff in wound care, chronic disease management, and infection control
Wound Management & Clinical Expertise
Lead wound assessment and management in line with international standards
Educate staff on best-practice wound care and prevention strategies, including for diabetic foot ulcers and chronic wounds
Monitor and document wound healing progress, adjusting care plans as necessary
Infection Prevention & Control
Implement and monitor infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for residents and staff
Strengthen outbreak preparedness and response using previous infection control experience
Conduct regular audits and training sessions on hand hygiene, PPE use, and infection prevention measures
Staff Leadership & Training
Lead and mentor care staff, including enrolled nurses, personal care workers, and students on clinical placement
Coordinate and deliver in-service education programs on topics such as palliative care, dementia care, and clinical documentation
Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development
Quality Assurance & Compliance
Ensure all care practices comply with Australian aged care standards, regulations, and accreditation requirements
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, including clinical audits, incident reviews, and policy development
Support preparation for site visits and accreditation surveys
Family & Community Engagement
Act as a key point of contact for families, providing regular updates on resident wellbeing and care outcomes
Organise and participate in community engagement activities to promote the services of Maroondah Care PTY LTD
Collaborate with external health professionals and agencies to coordinate comprehensive care
Performance Reporting & Continuous Improvement
Monitor key performance indicators related to resident outcomes, staff performance, and regulatory compliance
Prepare regular reports for management, highlighting achievements and areas for improvement
Use data and feedback to drive evidence-based improvements in care delivery
Selection Criteria (Key Requirements)
Relevant clinical nursing background with experience in infection control, wound management, and staff education
Experience in residential care, aged care, or disability support (preferred)
Ability to lead, mentor, and train care staff
Knowledge of Australian aged care standards and compliance requirements
