Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia's future.
Downer Professional Services comprises of three business units our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice, and Team Downer, which partners with CASG and NSSG as a major service provider to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for clients across Defence and National Security.
We currently have an opportunity for a Project Support Officer in Canberra to work on MIWS projects.
What You'll Do
This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including:
Program & Meeting Coordination: Plan and organise PMRs, BMD TIMs, TWGs, I&T activities, and support technical meetings, briefings, and presentations across CSE, SI&T, LTS, ILS, Engineering, and Training streams.
Stakeholder & Governance Support: Liaise with internal/external stakeholders, assist with decision briefs and visit authorities, and report on ACSD activities at weekly syncs and governance forums.
Schedule & Documentation Management: Develop and maintain ACS schedules, refine milestone documents, contribute to Branch IMS, and support governance reporting requirements including dashboards and monthly reporting.
Risk Management Leadership: Identify, manage, and escalate risks via Predict/TRMS, lead monthly risk meetings, provide risk input into SPMS reports, and ensure alignment with MIWS risk managers.
Administrative & Communications Support: Manage actions registers, uplift presentation materials, maintain the Aegis Teams workspace, handle team logistics (mailbox, travel, ICT, accommodation), and deliver minutes and presentations.
What You'll Bring
Project & Program Management Expertise: Ability to plan, organise, and coordinate PMRs, TWGs, I&T activities, and milestone reviews, ensuring alignment with Defence project governance frameworks.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication Skills: Strong capability to liaise with internal/external stakeholders, prepare decision briefs, support sync meetings, and deliver clear reports and presentations.
Risk & Compliance Management: Experience managing risk registers (Predict/TRMS), leading risk meetings, and providing risk input into governance reports while ensuring compliance with organisational standards.
Scheduling & Documentation Proficiency: Skilled in developing and maintaining ACS schedules, milestone documents, governance reporting dashboards, and supporting IMS integration.
Administrative & Coordination Competence: Demonstrated ability to manage team logistics, actions registers, workspace tools, and provide support across finance, ICT, and security processes.
Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
