Salary Range: LGO7 ( $113,019 - $119,946 per annum + superannuation) based on skills, qualifications and experience

About The Role
Support a strong, outcomes-driven culture by providing cyber security governance, risk and compliance advice aligned with Council’s Corporate Plan and policies. You will interpret relevant legislation and standards, translate technical cyber security concepts into practical business advice, and manage complex or sensitive matters. The role also contributes to business continuity planning, including supporting disaster recovery activities and testing to ensure critical operations can continue during disruptions.
You will maintain cyber security policies, standards and governance artefacts, oversee control registers and compliance schedules, and coordinate governance forums, reporting and action tracking. The position leads control validation activities, supports cyber risk assessments and risk registers, and provides assistance with internal and external audits, including evidence coordination and tracking remediation actions through to completion.
About You
- 5–7 years’ IT experience, including 3+ years in cyber/information security
- Degree in Cyber Security, IT or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Relevant certifications desirable (e.g. CISSP, CISA, CRISC, ISO27001)
- Strong knowledge of security frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST CSF, Essential 8)
- Ability to provide expert advice and influence outcomes in complex environments
- Strong understanding of cyber security risks, controls and best practices
- Proven ability to interpret legislation, standards and regulatory obligations
- Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to stay current with emerging threats, technologies and industry changes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to manage risk and controls
