Your Opportunity
IGO is seeking a Senior Field Assistant to supervise a small field team, ensuring the safe, high-quality execution of in-field exploration activities across remote and regional Australia. In this role, you will contribute to the discovery of future mineral resources by leading Field Assistants and contractors while actively participating in sampling, drilling support, camp operations and earthworks programs.
What You’ll Do
- Supervise and mentor Field Assistants and contractors, completing relevant inductions and training;
- Ensure all sampling meets a high standard and quality control procedures are followed;
- Organise field setup and support for drilling activities, coordinating assets and equipment to limit downtime;
- Maintain vehicles and field equipment, and keep accurate records;
- Champion safety leadership, ensuring field operations comply with IGO's safety policies and relevant legislation;
- Set clear goals, provide regular feedback, and address performance in a timely manner;
- Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Traditional Owners; and
- Drive continuous improvement in field systems and processes and manage costs effectively.
What You’ll Bring
This role will suit someone who is experienced in remote field exploration activities and has a strong commitment to health, wellbeing and safety. We are seeking someone who can meet most of the following;
- Previous experience in a senior field-based exploration role (soil, AC, RC, DD sampling, clearing/rehab, core processing);
- Ability to work in remote locations on greenfields projects with tent or caravan style accommodation;
- Experience with setting up and running remote caravan camps (off grid);
- Great communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others in remote settings;
- Working knowledge of Western Australian mining safety legislation;
- Valid ‘C’ class manual drivers’ licence and HR/MR licence, (essential);
- Certificate IV in Leadership and Management;
- Computer literacy with MS Office and PRONTO purchasing software (or similar);
- Well-developed time management skills and keen attention to detail;
- Backhoe/Loader ticket (desirable);
- Current valid certifications in Remote Area First Aid, 4WD & UTV (desirable);
- High Risk work licence (LF) Forklift and (CV) Vehicle Loading Crane Certification (desirable);
- Trailer/Caravan towing experience (desirable);
- National Police Clearance obtained within the last 2 months.
