The Role

The ABC is looking for a Reporter, Rural and Regional to join our Broken Hill team. This role is responsible for creating original and engaging rural and regional content across multiple platforms, connecting local audiences with stories that matter and contributing to the ABC’s national news agenda.

The Job

  • Create distinctive rural and regional stories for all ABC platforms
  • Identify, develop and deliver content that reflects the diversity of the local community
  • Contribute innovative ideas to planning and commissioning processes
  • Engage with local communities to uncover relevant and impactful stories
  • Develop content that can be shared across the ABC network nationally
  • Support local emergency coverage and communicate with stakeholders as required

About You

You are a passionate storyteller with strong editorial judgement and a genuine interest in rural and regional Australia.

You'll have:

  • Proven experience sourcing, researching and delivering high-quality news content
  • A strong understanding of rural and regional issues and audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to create engaging content across multiple platforms

Special Requirements

  • Possession of a current and valid Driver’s Licence.
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel to remote locations.
