We are looking for a talented Station Hand to join our team at Rewan. Rewan Station is situated 81km’s outside of Rolleston, near the beautiful Carnarvon Gorge. The property operates as a Wagyu backgrounding unit, supplying cattle into the Aronui and Goonoo feedlots.

Who we are:

The Australian Agricultural Company (AACo) is Australia’s largest integrated cattle and beef producer, specialising in grass-fed, grain-fed, and Wagyu beef production. Established back in 1824, we’ve been doing this a while – in fact, we’re Australia’s oldest continuously operating company. We’ve had plenty of time to figure out how to be the best workplace we can be, with all the support, training, and opportunity you need to shape your career how you want to. We’re dedicated to acknowledging our history even as we look to sustainably feed the future – and we’d love you to join us.

Are you ready to take the next step in your career while embracing the unique lifestyle of station life? We are seeking a Leading Hand to support the day-to-day operations of the station, working closely with the Operations Manager to deliver on production targets. This is a hands-on role where you’ll help guide the team, contribute to best practice livestock management, and play an important part in supporting sustainable operations and a positive team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and develop a high-performing stock team, overseeing daily operations, staff welfare, inductions and training in line with company standards
  • Plan and coordinate mustering activities and animal husbandry programs to ensure efficient, safe and best-practice livestock management
  • Oversee the care and welfare of cattle and horses, including handling, treatments, feeding, breeding programs and training of young stock and horses
  • Ensure accurate recording and reporting of livestock data, including stock movements and mustering outcomes
  • Maintain compliance with quality assurance, animal welfare and safety standards, including chemical use, documentation and audit requirements
  • Support sustainable land and pasture management, including water monitoring, weed and pest control, and environmental programs
  • Assist in delivering maintenance and capital improvement programs, ensuring station infrastructure and equipment are well-maintained
  • Communicate effectively with management and team members to deliver work programs, drive performance and uphold station policies

Knowledge and Skills

  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, including safety procedures
  • Strong ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Well-organised with the ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and perform under pressure
  • Practical problem-solver with a mature and level-headed approach
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and station requirements
  • A team player who builds positive working relationships and contributes to a strong team culture

Benefits

  • Grow with us - we’re all about development, training, and transfer opportunities.
  • Benefit from 5 weeks of annual leave
  • Stay connected with Wifi.
