About the Business

Pure Desi Pty Ltd is a family-owned Australian business based in Arndell Park, New South Wales, specialising in authentic, handcrafted Indian sweets, savoury snacks, and freshly prepared traditional meals including Halwa Pori and other hot South Asian favourites, all made fresh daily using premium ingredients without preservatives. With locations across Arndell Park and Kellyville in Sydney, Campbellfield in Melbourne, and Woodridge in Brisbane, plus an active online store and catering services for weddings, Diwali, Eid, and corporate events, Pure Desi brings the richness of Indian tradition to communities across Australia.

About the Role

This is a nationally focused retail management role. While the position is based at Pure Desi’s flagship store in Arndell Park, NSW, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and supporting retail operations across all Pure Desi locations — including Kellyville (Sydney), Campbellfield (Melbourne), and Woodridge (Brisbane). The role requires a hands-on manager capable of maintaining consistent standards, product quality, and customer experience across a multi-site retail network.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Organise and control the overall day-to-day operations of all Pure Desi retail stores across Arndell Park, Kellyville, Campbellfield, and Woodridge, ensuring seamless coordination across in-store sales, online order fulfilment, catering services, and production support at each location.

  • Determine the appropriate product mix of handcrafted Indian sweets, savoury snacks, fresh dairy products, and seasonal specialties across all store locations, establish stock level thresholds, and set customer service standards to meet the expectations of each store’s local clientele.

  • Formulate and implement purchasing and marketing policies across the Pure Desi store network, including sourcing premium local and imported ingredients, negotiating with suppliers, and setting competitive retail prices across all product categories including gift boxes, celebration platters, and bulk orders.

  • Promote and advertise each store’s goods and services through in-store displays, seasonal campaigns, community events, social media channels, and the business’s online platform to attract and retain customers across Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane.

  • Sell goods and services to customers on the shop floor at the Arndell Park flagship store, provide knowledgeable advice on traditional Indian sweets, ingredients, gifting options, and catering packages, and ensure all store teams deliver the same high standard of customer engagement.

  • Maintain accurate records of stock levels, daily production quantities, inventory movements, and financial transactions across all store locations, including purchase orders, supplier invoices, and sales reconciliation for in-store and online channels.

  • Undertake budgeting for the entire Pure Desi store network, including forecasting revenue across retail, online, and catering streams for each location, managing operating costs, and reporting consolidated financial performance to business owners.

  • Control the selection, training, and ongoing supervision of retail staff across all store locations, including onboarding, rostering, performance management, and developing team capability to deliver consistent, high-quality customer service in every store.

  • Ensure compliance with all occupational health and safety regulations applicable to a fresh food retail environment across all locations, including food safety standards, safe manual handling of sweets and dairy products, temperature control procedures, and maintaining a safe workplace for staff and customers nationally.

  • Coordinate special order and catering fulfilment for weddings, Diwali, Eid, corporate events, and other celebrations across all store locations, ensuring timely preparation, packaging, and delivery of bespoke sweet selections.

  • Monitor customer preferences, seasonal demand trends, and community celebrations across each store’s local market to identify new product opportunities and adjust each store’s range and promotions accordingly.

Minimum Requirements

  • AQF Diploma or higher in Retail Management, Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field (or equivalent overseas qualification).

  • Demonstrated knowledge of retail store operations including purchasing, merchandising, inventory management, and financial reporting.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to supervise and motivate staff across multiple locations in a fast-paced fresh food retail environment.

  • Understanding of food safety regulations and experience managing perishable or fresh food products will be highly regarded.

  • Familiarity with Indian sweets, traditional South Asian products, and the cultural occasions they serve will be a distinct advantage.

  • Willingness to travel interstate to Campbellfield (Melbourne) and Woodridge (Brisbane) store locations as required by the business.

  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and public holidays as required.
