Salary package: $33,05 - $36,44 per hour plus 12.5% superannuation

Position overview
University House offers commercial hotel and ANU graduate student accommodation, and 15 diverse events spaces and hospitality venues. University House is reopening in mid-2026, after 6.5 years closure due to the 2020 Canberra hailstorm, and a complete refurbishment to restore and upgrade its rooms and facilities. The reopening, in conjunction with the University's 80th anniversary, offers an exciting opportunity to re-establish and grow the reputation and business of University House, and its contributions to the University.
The Chef supports the kitchen brigade to deliver consistent, high-quality food across all service periods. Working under routine supervision, the Chef prepares mise en place, cooks menu items to specification, upholds food safety and hygiene standards, and contributes to a clean, efficient, and safe kitchen environment.
The applicant must possess a strong work ethic, positive attitude, a high attention to detail and effective communication skills while operating in a high-pressure environment. Passion for food and the hospitality industry. Reliability and a team-focussed attitude. The willingness to learn, develop skills and work across different sections.
As a member of a busy department, you will have excellent communication skills, a commitment to continuous improvement, high attention to detail and strong understanding and application of HACCP and Workplace Health and Safety
