Location: 85 High Street, Northcote VIC 3070 Work Type: Full Time Industry: Hospitality Ophelia is a beloved fixture of the Westgarth dining scene, celebrated for its thoughtful approach to cafe cooking and a kitchen culture built on creativity. We're looking for a skilled and motivated Head Chef to join our team and play a key role in shaping what comes out of our kitchen every day. This is a full-time position with the potential for a 4-day working week arrangement, subject to business needs and mutual agreement. You will work closely with our Head Chef to deliver a modern, seasonal, and innovative cafe menu that reflects the best of what's available. The Role Reporting to the Executive Chef, your key responsibilities will include: Collaborating with the Exec Chef and venue management to develop and execute a seasonal, innovative, and on-trend menu Leading and managing the kitchen independently on the Exec Chef's days off, maintaining the highest standards of food quality and service Supervising, mentoring, and supporting junior kitchen staff to foster a positive and high-performing team environment Ensuring strict adherence to food safety protocols, HACCP procedures and relevant health regulations Contributing to ordering, stock control and minimising wastage Upholding and enhancing the culture, standards and progressive direction of the venue About You To be considered for this role, you will have: A minimum of 1 years' experience as a Head chef in a high-quality cafe, restaurant or hospitality environment A Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery and Diploma of Hospitality (or equivalent recognised qualification) Proven experience in a supervisory or kitchen management capacity A strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards A creative flair for produce-driven, modern cafe cuisine A positive, energetic attitude and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment Full working rights in Australia, or eligibility to work under a sponsored visa arrangement What We Offer Competitive salary of $75,000 – $80,000 superannuation Full-time hours with the potential for a 4-day working week arrangement A supportive, creative, and collaborative team culture Opportunity for career progression and skill development Work in one of Melbourne's most respected and characterful neighbourhood cafes We welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates.
