About This Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity available for a Safer Communities Principal Advisor, where you’ll provide expert, trauma-informed responses to sensitive and complex matters affecting students and staff, including gender-based violence, behavioural risks and other wellbeing concerns.

Joining a newly established, values-led team, you’ll contribute your expertise in intake, risk assessment and coordinated care while helping shape consistent, best-practice responses across UQ. This is a meaningful, impact-driven role where your work directly supports safer outcomes for the University community.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver expert, trauma-informed support in complex and sensitive situations
  • Conduct intake, triage and risk assessments to guide safe and coordinated responses
  • Collaborate across the University to manage behavioural risk and wellbeing matters
  • Support case coordination, safety planning and continuous service improvement

About You

  • Relevant qualifications in psychology, social work, counselling, criminology or a related field, or equivalent applied experience
  • Proven experience delivering trauma-informed, culturally responsive and person-centred support in complex environments
  • Strong capability in intake, triage, risk assessment, safety planning and case coordination
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
  • Sound professional judgement, with confidence managing sensitive matters with discretion and care
  • Commitment to reflective practice, supervision and ongoing professional growth
