Looking for a job that sees you talking about complex international diplomacy one minute, and star-studded red carpets the next? Then have we got the role for you! ABC News Breakfast is seeking expressions of interest from experienced broadcast producers looking to join its Melbourne-based team on a casual basis. If you love coffee as much as you love news and current affairs, then we want to hear from you. Come and work in a supportive, fun environment with one of the ABC’s flagship news programs.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in a broadcast newsroom in either a production or reporting role. Digital and vertical video production skills are also highly advantageous.

You will need:

  • A working-knowledge of TV and Video production, ideally in a newsroom environment
  • A wide knowledge base that covers national and international news, as well as sport, finance and popular culture
  • Demonstrated ability to use editing software
  • Attention to detail, and demonstrated ability to produce concise, accurate and engaging content for TV and digital audiences
  • The ability to identify and suggest new story ideas, or fresh angles for existing stories
  • The ability to help develop a varied contacts list to bring in guests who reflect modern-Australia
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced team environment, working both under direction and autonomously as required

This role will predominantly work across the morning production desk with shifts starting at 2, 3 or 4am, but may also need to work afternoon and evening shifts. Additional shift penalties for the early and late hours apply.
