Location – Various locations across NSW and Melbourne

About the role:

Aurizon is seeking qualified Locomotive Drivers for casual opportunities across various locations in NSW and Melbourne.

As a casual Locomotive Driver with Aurizon, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating locomotives, supporting freight movements across our rail network. You will work within a supportive, safety-conscious team, striving for operational excellence and maintaining the highest service standards.

  • Operation of locomotives including mainline, shunting, and marshalling.
  • Examine and certify trains as ready for departure.
  • Work in accordance with Aurizon's safety and operational standards and procedures.
  • Maintain a high level of on-time running.
  • Prepare and conduct brake testing on locomotives.
  • Provide high quality customer service to enable Aurizon to meet its set business objectives.

About you:

  • Strong commitment to safety and Aurizon’s safety strategy “I Know Safe, I Choose Safe.”
  • Availability to work a 24/7 shift roster.
  • Experience in Safe Working systems is advantageous.
  • Extensive freight and/or heavy haulage locomotive driving experience.
  • A Certificate IV in Rail Operations.
  • Current unrestricted Class C drivers licence.
