Position Type: Fixed Term Full Time (2 years, 9 day fortnight, 36.25 hours/week)
Salary Range: Base Salary $75,396 - $96,989 per annum + super (dependent on qualifications and experience)
Location: 143 Walker Street, Townsville City

You’ll learn the ropes from experienced professionals while building practical estimating skills, strong commercial awareness and a solid understanding of how local government really works. From preparing cost estimates for capital works, maintenance and renewal projects, to analysing drawings, specs and site data, you’ll be hands‑on from day one.
Along the way, you’ll help project teams identify cost risks and opportunities, learn Council procurement and governance frameworks, and gain valuable experience using industry‑standard systems and software. Best of all, you’ll be contributing to projects that directly benefit the community, setting you up with a transferable skill set, meaningful experience and an excellent foundation for a long‑term career in engineering and infrastructure.
Qualifications And Experience
In an ideal applicant, we are looking for:
- Completed Bachelor’s Degree Construction Management, Engineering or related field within the last three (3) years or will be completed by prior to the start of the Graduate program.
- Current “C” Class driver’s licence.
- Construction Industry White Card (30215 QLD).
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
- Sound time-management skills including the ability to plan, prioritise and organise own work, achieve set and agreed performance and service standards and meet deadlines.
- Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of products.
