Your Opportunity

This role provides expert practice advice and leadership to a team of Case Manager practitioners working with families towards Intensive Family Support program objectives. These include enabling vulnerable children, young people and their families to make sustainable increases in safety, wellbeing and belonging and to minimize the likelihood of a family from entering the statutory child protection system. Support is also provided to the Program Manager to deliver high quality and contractually compliant services.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • In consultation with the Program Manager assist in the allocation of caseloads to service staff
  • Respond to selective referrals from the Program Manager in line with Intensive Family Support policies and processes
  • Provide high quality supervision to a team of practitioners to ensure consistent workflows, high quality and compliant practice and practitioner growth
  • Encourage and develop productive relationships between the program and other relevant stakeholders
  • Engage families in their homes and at other suitable locations to actively and proactively overcome barriers to engagement
  • Where needed conduct brief therapeutic interventions in the client’s home

Requirements for Success

  • Experience working with families experiencing multiple and complex challenges such as mental health, disability and domestic and family violence.
  • Thorough understanding of relevant Child Protection and Domestic and Family Violence legislation
  • Professional understanding of the issues and needs facing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families including Intergenerational Trauma.
  • Ability to apply crisis management skills including an understanding of vicarious trauma and self-care strategies
  • Ability to apply evidence based therapeutic frameworks and early intervention principles to working with children and families with multiple and complex needs.
  • Ability to form collaborative partnerships and connections with other professionals and organisations to achieve outcomes that benefit clients accessing the service.
