About the role

We are looking for an Agronomist to join the Ace Ohlsson team at the Flemington markets on a permanent, full time basis.

As an Ace Ohlsson Agronomist, you will provide agronomic technical advice, products and services to help your clients thrive, as well as play the pivotal role of leading the rural products sales team and overseeing this function within the branch. The successful applicant will need to be willing and able to attend work in line with market hours of operations. Shifts typically start from 4:00am.

This role will be advertised from 24 April 2026 - 24 May 2026.

Salary range is 70,000-80,000

Responsibilities

  • Advising Ace Ohlsson clients on techniques for improving the production of crops and livestock, and alternative agricultural options
  • Collecting and analysing data and samples of produce, feed, soil and other factors affecting production
  • Advising clients on issues such as crop disease, control of pests and weeds, soil improvement
  • Studying the effects of cultivation techniques, soils, insects and plant diseases on animal, crop and forest production
  • Manage branch retail operations to exceed targets and monitor rural products performance against key metrics.
  • Source new business opportunities to expand market share and assist in setting retail sales targets and business planning.
  • Provide product expertise, oversee sales transactions, and coach the sales team to achieve individual and branch targets while supporting national initiatives.

About you

To excel at Ace Ohlsson, you:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Agronomy, Ag Science or similar
  • Able to attend early morning shifts at Flemington markets; shifts commence at 4:00am
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Are committed to the provision of high-quality customer service;
  • Have an understanding of agriculture products and your clients’ current and future needs, the region and our competitors;
  • Have demonstrated high-quality written and verbal communication and customer service skills, along with basic computer skills
  • Have a drivers license. A Forklift and HR Truck license is preferred.
