Reef Distillers is an internationally award-winning craft distillery and agritourism destination located on Queensland's stunning Capricorn Coast, Southern Great Barrier Reef. We produce premium small-batch spirits using locally sourced Australian produce and native botanicals, offering visitors an immersive experience through our cellar door, tasting room, distillery tours, cocktail masterclasses and events.

As our business continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Hospitality Manager to lead our hospitality and tourism operations and deliver exceptional guest experiences.

About the Role

Reporting to the Directors, the Hospitality Manager will oversee the day-to-day operation of our tasting room, visitor experiences and hospitality services while leading a small team and ensuring the highest standards of customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Distilling vodka, gin, rum and other spirits/liquers

  • Manage the daily operation of the distillery tasting room, bar and visitor experiences.

  • Lead, mentor and supervise hospitality staff.

  • Develop staff rosters and manage labour costs.

  • Deliver exceptional customer service and ensure outstanding guest experiences.

  • Oversee beverage service and maintain responsible service of alcohol compliance.

  • Manage stock control, ordering and inventory for beverages and hospitality supplies.

  • Coordinate distillery tours, tastings, cocktail masterclasses and private events.

  • Develop and implement seasonal cocktail menus showcasing Reef Distillers products.

  • Maintain food safety, workplace health and safety and licensing compliance.

  • Work collaboratively with tourism partners, local producers and suppliers.

  • Assist with marketing initiatives, tourism events and promotional activities.

  • Monitor financial performance, budgets and hospitality KPIs.

  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and enhance the visitor experience.

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a Hospitality Manager or similar leadership role.

  • Demonstrated 5 year minimum experience in distilling spirits, liqueurs, whiskey, rum.

  • Demonstrated experience managing hospitality operations within a distillery, winery, brewery, cellar door or premium beverage tourism venue.

  • Proven experience managing a tasting room or premium beverage venue.

  • Strong leadership and people management skills.

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.

  • Experience with stock management, rostering and budgeting.

  • Sound knowledge of responsible service of alcohol requirements.

  • Ability to work weekends, evenings and public holidays as required.

Desirable

  • Qualifications in Hospitality Management, Business or Tourism.

  • Experience in premium beverage, tourism or agritourism businesses.

  • Cocktail knowledge and experience developing premium beverage experiences.

  • First Aid Certificate.

  • Approved Manager certification (or ability to obtain).
