About the Role
As a Personal Care Worker, you will assist senior staff in delivering comprehensive care to customers, especially those needing extra support due to physical limitations or frailty. You will provide high quality care, facilitate activities to enhance physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development, and supervise daily hygiene practices. You will report any changes in customers' conditions to senior staff, advocate for customers' wellbeing and collaborate with families and the care team to ensure high-quality care. You will also mentor new staff to support their development.
Responsibilities include:
- Focuses on customers and residents using person centered approach, demonstrates values of patience, empathy and listening and respects the customer’s diverse and unique needs.
- Attends to the personal care needs of customers, with a focus on those requiring additional support due to specific physical limitations or frailty.
- Identifies and reports changes in customers’ circumstances and health due to a deeper knowledge of health conditions, monitors and records clients’ vital signs and assists with medication management, including reminders and administration as prescribed.
- Provides manual handling assistance to customers with daily tasks, supports customers with daily hygiene routines, including showers or baths, shaving, and nail care. Assists customers with their aids, such as applying surgical/support stockings or operating a tens machine.
About You
To be successful in this role, our preferred candidate will have:
- Certificate III Individual Support; or Certificate III Disability; or Certificate III Aged Care; or Certificate III Home and Community Support; or currently studying a Diploma of Nursing or Bachelor of Nursing with the completion of a successful clinical placement; or equivalent
- Current First Aid Certificate HLTAID003 Provide First Aid
- Moderate experience (post Certificate III) in daily activities, managing medications, and providing emotional support to elderly or disabled individuals is desirable.
- Proficient in activities of daily living, person centered practice, medication administration & monitoring and providing medical and personal support and care to patients/residents.
- Excellent analytical thinking, communication, customer experience, emotional intelligence, planning and prioritisation and results orientation skills.
