The Role

This role can be based in a range of ABC locations, working remotely with colleagues across Australia.

The ABC is looking for a Mid-Level Software Engineer to contribute to the design, development, maintenance, and support of the ABC’s Digital Marketing software platforms in line with the Product & Technology Divisions objectives.

The Job

  • Develop and maintain ABC’s digital marketing data platforms, focusing on CRM, personalisation, and segmentation strategy.
  • Work with technical teams to design and build reusable integrations for personalisation and re‐engagement across digital properties.
  • Build API integrations with vendor tools and ABC cloud platforms to support personalised, engaging audience experiences.
  • Design and develop marketing journeys using internal and third‐party tools to provide relevant, tailored content.
  • Collaborate with Digital Marketing and Product teams to support and shape the Marketing Technology strategy.
  • Help maintain a trusted, privacy‐focused platform by aligning with industry best practice and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain strong awareness of existing systems and support APIs built on a modern TypeScript, Go, and AWS stack.
  • Develop solutions within the ABC engagement platforms and integrate them to enable broader personalisation.

About You

  • Substantial experience developing in modern JavaScript/TypeScript and Go within a cloud-based environment, including integrating with third‐party platforms and APIs.
  • Understanding of digital marketing tools and strategies, with experience in Customer Data Platforms (e.g. Campaign Monitor, Braze, Salesforce Marketing Cloud) desirable.
  • Strong technical capability in SQL, relational databases, and modern development practices such as frameworks, automated testing, and version control.
  • Proven ability to contribute within a development team, building effective, collaborative working relationships and providing technical input.
  • Understanding of event-driven architecture, privacy, and security principles is an advantage.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and prioritisation skills, with the ability to deliver high-quality outcomes under tight deadlines.

About ABC Product & Technology:

The Product & Technology (P&T) division is responsible for delivering the technology and services that enable the ABC to fulfil its creative, strategic and business goals. The scope of activities and responsibilities of the P&T division range from keeping ABC programs and services on-air and on-line, to delivering on key projects, as well as assisting in setting the technology strategy and architecture for the ABC.
