Australia Post is delivering for all Australians. From the vehicles that we drive, to the small businesses that make our communities thrive. We’re delivering for the environment, for our communities, for our customers and for our people. We’re moving forward and we want you to come along for the ride.

About the opportunity

Reporting to the Senior Transaction Manager, you will help to manage and execute the end-to-end real estate transaction process for Australia Post. This role is pivotal in meeting internal customer requirements for property needs while aligning with Australia Posts strategic property and financial objectives.

Australia Post’s property portfolio comprises approximately 1,600 assets nationally, including industrial and logistics properties, retail outlets, and heritage sites. By building area, 39% of the portfolio is owned and valued at $2.4 billion (market value), while 61% is leased. These assets are critical to support diverse operational needs such as retail services, letter and parcel facilities, and transport hubs.

What you’ll deliver with us

You will interface with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure the delivery of cost-effective and strategically aligned real estate solutions.

You’ll also

  • Collaborate with internal customers to understand their property needs and translate them into actionable requirements.

  • Assess transaction options and define go-to-market strategies, including property divestment strategies (e.g. sale and leaseback) and acquisition options – e.g. buy vs lease

  • Negotiate directly with land and building owners or oversee broker-led negotiations to secure the best commercial terms

  • Provide comprehensive commercial assistance to the legal team and assist in contract negotiations.

  • Align transactions with the Australia Post property strategy, ensuring they contribute to long-term business goals.

  • Create business processes and documents that support property related strategic decision making

  • Analyze market trends, property valuations, and potential opportunities for optimal decision-making

  • Collaborate with finance teams to evaluate financial implications and ensure budgetary alignment for transactions

  • Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Business, or any related field

  • Proven experience and understanding in corporate real estate transactions or investment management (leasing, acquisitions, sales, and sale-and-leaseback strategies, including due diligence processes)

  • Understanding of the Australian industrial real estate markets, including leasing and investment trends

  • Understanding of regulatory requirements for property transactions and zoning

  • Experience working closely with external brokers, landlords, and property owners to execute transactions

How we’ll deliver for you

  • We deliver on our values of Trust, Inclusivity, Empowerment, and Safety every day. They’re the TIES that bind our team together
