An interior designer often works as part of a team that may include architects, builders, project managers, engineering consultants, shop fitters, cabinet makers, furniture suppliers and materials suppliers. They may also be required to arrange for building structures to be modified, to purchase materials and furnishings, and to contract and supervise tradespeople on the project. Interior decorators aren’t involved in designing the layout of the space. They may be called onto projects while they’re still under construction, but in general they come on board after the project is complete. They’re hired by homeowners or developers of multi-family residential units to create a look that will be comfortable and inviting for the home’s occupants. Decorators choose furnishings, fixtures, lighting, paint and fabric to create a cohesive scheme, while still reflecting the personality of the homeowners. Get started in surveying with the Certificate IV. This nationally recognised qualification will show you how to work under limited supervision to aid in the collection, processing and presentation of data in the areas of mining, engineering, construction, hydrography, aerial mapping, geographic information systems and land surveying. Learn about collecting spatial data, using specialist software applications, performing simple surveying tasks, producing basic survey plans, operating surveying equipment, producing CAD drawings, and reading and interpreting maps for survey work. You’ll graduate ready to work as a survey assistant with theoretical learning and hands-on skills. Further your career by studying the Diploma of Surveying. Additional Uniforms, Equipment and Costs Approximately $100 for Survey Field Accessories Pack (specialised plumb bob, 30m steel tape, staff level bubble). Students will source their own hand tools (claw hammer, 8m tape measure, field bag/tool belt), stationary (clip board, pencils, pens, ruler, USB storage), PPE (Hi-vis long sleeve shirt and/or vest/wet/cool weather equivalent, long pants, steel capped boots, hat, gloves, safety glasses/sunglasses). This hands-on qualification builds the core skills needed for entry-level roles in mining exploration, drilling, petroleum, and construction. It’s designed as a launchpad into the resources and infrastructure sector, preparing you for further study at Certificate III level within the RII Training Package. Attendance Requirements (subject to change) Industry Conditions and Skills You will need practical hands-on aptitude, good communication and interpersonal skills, basic literacy and numeracy skills and a basic understanding of concepts including measurements, volumes, levels, ratios, pressure, temperatures and chemicals. Ability to complete written work in the form of job cards and workbook and computer skills for online activities and tasks.
Entry Recommendations This course is recommended for those with an interest and aptitude towards working in the Engineering sector.
