Certificate II in Auslan
Auslan (Australian Sign Language) is the majority language of the Deaf community in Australia. This course teaches introductory Auslan skills for discussing simple matters/everyday familiar topics in a variety of situations. Students learn basic signing skills and Deaf community cultural values from teachers who are actively part of the Deaf community. Students who complete this course are prepared for further formal Auslan language study. Entry Recommendations You will need to have reasonable skills in reading, writing, face to face communication and basic research. You will also need to be able to use online learning and have organisation, time management and study skills. Attendance Requirements (subject to change) This course is delivered as a blend of face to face and online learning. Language learning is face to face with 2 classes of 3 hours each a week. Day and evening classes may be available. The 2 theory units are studied online. 80% attendance in each unit in a term is needed to successfully complete this course.
