Certificate II in Maritime Operations (Coxswain Grade 1 Near Coastal)
Find your sea legs with this nationally recognised qualification in maritime operations. Learn all about handling vessels of up to 12 metres with seamanship skills, planning and navigating passages, and safety compliance. You’ll gain hands-on experience with basic servicing and maintenance, inboard and outboard motors, main propulsion and auxiliary systems, basic survival skills and first aid, minimising fires, and workplace safety. This qualification is required to obtain an AMSA certificate of competency as a Coxswain Grade 1 NC as defined in the National Standard for Commercial Vessels (NSCV) Part D (see www.amsa.gov.au/qualifications-training/domestic-qualifications/coxswain-grade-1-near-coastal for more details). This course is part of the Fee Free TAFE initiative. Fee Free places are limited and eligibility criteria applies. If all Fee Free TAFE places are filled, you may be offered a subsidised place instead. Each semester, fees can be paid online with VISA or Mastercard or at an Australia Post outlet.
